If you ask Trinity Lightfoot what brings her the most joy, she’ll tell you it’s anything that has to do with interior design. It’s no wonder she created the winning rendering in our latest design challenge with Homebody. Her living room design was inspired by her and her husband’s personal styles — a blend of boho and mid-century modern.
We’re excited to introduce you to Trinity and share more about her background!
I have always had a love for interior design. From watching HGTV at home to painting rooms in my house, if something involves interior design, I am about it. I’m a family and consumer science (FACS) teacher by day and a Kansas City realtor by night. One of the things that attracted me to become a FACS teacher was the idea of being able to teach interior design to my students. I have always wanted to become a real estate agent, and after I got married in July 2021, I decided to make the jump into real estate. I’m pursuing interior design on top of my other endeavors because it has always been a dream of mine, and having knowledge in interior design has been a tremendous help in real estate. I hope to one day have an interior design business alongside real estate and to help my clients maximize their homes' full potential.

For this design, I wanted to go moody while incorporating boho and midcentury modern elements. Also, it just so happens that while designing this room, my actual home was under reno, so that inspired some of my choices. I wanted this room to include the Homebody couch, all while incorporating designs that fit my husband and my interior style. My favorite interior design style is boho, and my husband's favorite style is midcentury modern! I also love rooms that mix muted colors with neutrals, which was another big part of what I did with this room.
My inspiration usually comes from an object, interior style, or color. I like the main focus to be one thing.
I LOVE Shea McGee from Studio McGee! She does a wonderful job of working with different colors, styles, and making overall timeless designs, while still being trendy. Out of all the designers out there, my style matches up with hers pretty well.
My favorite way to spend my free time is to design. I love The Sims, so sometimes I will get on there and design homes for hours. I also love being able to explore Kansas City. Our city is starting to boom more and more, and I don't want to miss a thing!!
An oat milk latte. I love iced coffee, and I love iced lattes. However, I had no idea how much better oat milk tastes in lattes.
